Tar Sand Well in Northen Alberta

This well, though new, had never been productive. The well was initially perforated and, although it was anticipated that it would flow or pump at commercial rates without stimulation, it was unable to do so.

After re-perforation the well had a brief surge of production but died back down. The operator decided to try a competitoršs propellant stimulation treatment. The well again had a brief surge in production but then died completely. At this point it was decided to try Propellant Fracturing & Stimulation.

Although the initial production increase was relatively small, the well gained rate for several days, leveling off at a sustained economic rate or about 35 BOPD. After subsequent pump adjustments, production stabilized at an average of 48 BOPD.
